Puducherry, Nov 18 (UNI) The Puducherry administration has decided to seek a one time grant from the Centre to run the Government Medical College instead of handing it over to the ESI Corporation, Home and Health Minister E Valsaraj said here today.
In a press release issued here he said in a meeting of legislatures held here it was decided that the Government would run the medical colleges and seek funds for it from the Central fund.
He said it was also deciced to take a legislature committee to Chennai to visit the medical colleges constructed at a cost of less than Rs150 crore.
It may be noted that the Government had already taken a decision to hand over the building to the ESI Corporation for it's Medical College and it is a "U" turn on the part of the Government after protest by the opposition.
