Opens new R&D @ Hyd;to invest USD 250m

Hyderabad, Nov 18 (UNI) The US-based Pegasystems Inc, a Business Process Management (BPM) software provider, today announced the opening of a major research and development facility in Hyderabad, where the company will invest USD 200 million and boost the headcount to 1000 over the next 5 years.

The office will provide it with a global research, development, and training footprints and bring greater technology innovation in the BPM sector.

The new facility here will be a critical component in developing company's BPM vision moving forward. It will employ highly skilled and experienced engineering talent, who will be tasked to explore the frontiers of BPM technology and bring new ideas and concepts into its products.

''Pegasystems is creating a technology hub in Hyderabad that will match our engineering facility at our headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusettes in terms of Staffing, skills, sophistication and innovation,'' according to Company CEO Alan Trefler. ''This new research lab will grow in capability and influence as we identify and onboard the top talent in our key disciplines to help develop future enhancements of Pegasystems' core BPM products.'' The company has had a foothold in India, specifically in Hyderabad, through initiatives with partners Cognisant and Virtusa since 2002, according to Company's Indian unit Managing Director Suman Eadunuri. Currently with 40 personnel at its 25,000 square feet facility, the company has made an initial investment of USD 5 million over the last 15 months.

''We will ramp up our investment and headcount over the next 5-6 years and will work with our partners, including Capgemini,'' he added.
