Mahindra to take on table toppers Sporting in I League

Mumbai, Oct 18 (UNI) Local giants Mahindra United, who have had a dreadful start to the I-League, will have their task cut out when they take on table toppers Sporting Clube de Goa in the ninth round I-League match to be played at the Cooperage here tomorrow.

The Red Devils had last season trounced Sporting with a 3-0 scoreline twice. However, tomorrow, they realize that it would not be a cakewalk for two reasons - their own and the opposition's form.

The Red Devils are languishing in the tenth position and are in desperate search for points, with their main player Chidi Edeh having had a forgettable league so far and for the home team to click tomorrow a lot will depend on him getting his goal scoring instincts right.

Sporting on the other hand have been a revelation this season with coach Vishwas Gaonkar having had a positive effect on the side.

He has been able to bring out the best out of his players and with a string of good results this season they are sitting pretty at the top of the table.

Sporting, however, had a reverse in the last match against formidable East Bengal and they would be looking to get back to win with a win against Mahindra United on the latters turf.

Meanwhile, Mahindra looked to be getting back some of their form in their last match against Air India, though they were denied their first victory at home in the present I League.
