Chandigarh, Nov 18 (uni) The Haryana Government has issued orders for the closure of liquor vends in the boundary areas of Haryana adjoining Delhi and Rajasthan in view of the assembly elections to these states on November 29 and December 4 respectively. These orders have been issued on the direction of State Election Commission.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Excise and Taxation Department said that the liquor vends in the areas adjoining Delhi would remain closed on November 28 and 29 and liquor vends in the areas adjoining Rajasthan would remain closed on December 3 to 4.
All hotels, restaurants, clubs and other establishments selling or serving liquor would also be prohibited to sell or serve liquor in these areas on the prescribed dates.
He said that orders had also been issued in pursuance of the provisions of the rule 37(10) of the Haryana Liquor Licence Rules, 1970.
The restrictions prescribed in the excise laws on possession and storage of liquor in unlicenced premises would be vigorously enforced in order to ensure that storage of liquor by individuals was drastically reduced during the prescribed period, the spokesman said.
