Kalyani Municipality Academy wins both the matches

Gangtok, Nov 18 (UNI) The Kalyani Municipality Academy from West Bengal won both the matches today on the first day of the Manchester United Premier Cup (MUCP) U-15 East and the Northeast Zone qualifying round played here at Paljor Stadium.

The Kalyani boys defeated Sikkim Football Academy 1-0 and Snow Line Football Academy 2-0.

In the third match, Sikkim Football Academy beat their local rivals, Snow Line Football Academy by two goals to nil.

As per the MUCP guidelines, each match was played for 40 minutes.

The second round will be played tomorrow at Paljor Stadium where the above teams will clash against each other.

The top two teams will compete for a berth in the national final round on November 20.

The finals of MUCP tournament in India is scheduled to be held at Goa in December, after which the winners will feature in the MUCP tournament in England, where teams from all over the world will participate.

Indian football team captain Bhaichung Bhutia kicked off the MUCP qualifying round for East and Northeast Zone and the inaugural session was attended by Sikkim Sports Minister PS Tamang as the chief guest.

The event, organised by Sikkim Football Association (SFA), is held in the state for the first time.
