New York, November 18 : Actress Heather Locklear has been charged with a misdemeanour driving under the influence of prescribed drugs following her arrest in September.
The 'Firestarter' star was arrested, and later released, in Santa Barbara County, after a paparazzo reported her 'erratic' driving to the cops on September 27.
Locklear was handcuffed by a California Highway Patrol officer who saw her parked car blocking a freeway traffic lane in Montecito and determined her 'obvious impairment'.
"She had prescription medication in her system that could have impaired her ability to safely drive a motor vehicle," the New York Daily News quoted Santa Barbara Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter as saying.
Though no alcohol and illegal narcotics were found in Heather's system, only prescribed medications, the 'Double Tap' actress has been charged with a single misdemeanour count.
While her attorney Blair Berk refused to comment, Locklear is due to appear in court on January 26, where is she is convicted, she might face a minimum fine of around 1,600 dollars and up to six months jail time.
