Semester system in colleges soon: Gujarat
Ahmedabad, Nov 18: In a bid to make their syllabus competitive exams oriented, Gujarat University is mulling over introduction of semester system for Arts, Commerce and Science streams in colleges. The issue was discussed in a meeting of all heads and directors of different departments here on Monday, Nov 17.
According to Gujarat University vice chanceller Parimal Trivedi, heads and directors of as many as 34 departments of different disciplines came to the conclusion that if the University is sensitive to the needs of the students who prepare for competitive exams like Indian Administrative Service and Indian Police Service exams, then it should consider the introduction of semester system in the colleges.
Once the decision is taken in this regard, other issues like, pattern of internal and external marks and how much weightage should be given to research and project work could be sorted out, he added.
Sources in the Gujarat University said the meeting also favoured the objective style of question paper for the state eligibility tests.
