London, Nov 18 : A British couple, who was found guilty for having sex on a Dubai beach, is making an appeal in a bid to overturn their conviction. Michelle Palmer, 36, of Oakham, Rutland, and Vince Acors, 34, of Bromley, southeast London, will be appearing at Dubai's Court of Appeal.

It was in the early hours of July 5 that the couple was arrested after a police officer saw them having sex on Jumeirah Beach.

The pair had met earlier at a champagne brunch at a five-star hotel on the emirate, reports The Daily Express.

Palmer and Acors' lawyer Hassan Matter said that the case would not be concluded straight away and it is very likely that the judge would postpone his decision to a later date.

Found guilty of having unmarried sex and public indecency, the duo were sentenced to three months in jail and were deported. They were also fined 1,000 dirhams after they admitted of being drunk in a public place.

Currently they are on bail in Dubai and are fighting to overturn their convictions.

The hearing will also see prosecution lawyers also making representations, where they will be calling for the sentence to be lengthened.
