New Delhi, Nov 18 (UNI) Spurred by some quality spin bowling from Ramesh Powar and Sairaj Bahutule, Mumbai dismissed Delhi for 295 to take a crucial 35-run first innings lead at the end of the third day of Ranji Trophy Super League Group A match here today.
At the close of the penultimate day's play, openers Wasim Jaffer (71) and Sahil Kukreja (77) were at the crease and had taken the visitors to 149 for no loss taking the over all lead to 184.
Bahutule and Powar picked three wickets each to take a crucial 35-run first innings lead.
Resuming from their overnight total of 176 for four, batsmen Mithun Manhas (98) and Rajat Bhatia (81) added another 49 runs but Powar dismissed the former to bring an end to the 146-run fifth wicket stand.
Bahutule then forced Bhatia to come down the track and the batsman failed to get his bat on the ball. Bhatia was stumped by the wicket keeper and his 130-ball innings which had 13 boundaries in it came to an end.
Manhas, after doing all the hard work, missed his century by just two runs and his wicket opened the gates for Mumbai bowlers who ran through the Delhi batting which eventually folded on 295.
For Mumbai, Ajit Agarkar bagged a couple of wickets, while Kulkarni and Malvi calimed a wicket each.
However, when Mumbai openers came on to bat they did not find any devils in the pitch and easily negotiated the 37 overs that they had to play in the evening today.
Kukreja did not look too keen to run between the wickets and garnered most of his runs through the 13 boundaries that he hit.
