Couple commit suicide in Lucknow

Lucknow, Nov 18 (UNI) A middle-aged couple committed suicide by consuming pesticide in Aliganj area here.

Mohammad Jia Hasan(38) and his wife Shabnam (34) ended their lives by consuming pesticide, following an altercation.

They were rushed to a private nursing home and then to a Trauma Centre at the Medical College but could not be saved.

Jia Hasan, who owned a welding shop in his house at Banarasi Tola in Aliganj was married for the last eight years and had a troubled relation with his wife. In a fit of rage, after a bitter altercation with his wife last night, he gulped down the pesticide, an act repeated by his wife as well.

They are survived by two minor children.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, Superintendent of Police (SP), Trans-Gomati Ashok Prasad told UNI today.

Further investigation was on, he said.
