CM pays glowing tributes to former PM Indira Gandhi
Hyderabad, Nov 18 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today paid tributes to former Prime Minister, ''Bharat Ratna'' Indira Gandhi, on the occasion of her 92nd birth anniversary tomorrow.
Mr Reddy described Gandhi as the ''champion of the poor and the downtrodden and architect of modern India''.
The Chief Minister said Indira Gandhi was a world renowned leader and her resolute leadership of the country was applauded world over.
He said she was never afraid of anybody and implemented steps like nationalisation of banks and doing away with privy purses.
The Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh was Indira Gandhi's second home and she held the people and the state very close to her heart.
That was the reason she contested from Medak Parliamentary constituency and won with a thumping margin. The people of Andhra Pradesh also had a special place for Indira Gandhi in their hearts and they called her ''Indiramma''.
