ATTF activist on remand for forcing students to join militancy

Agartala, Nov 18 (UNI) West Tripura Chief Judicial Magistrate sent an ATTF militant, Biswamani Debbarma of Mandai area here to ten days remand yesterday for forcing three tribal students to join the outfit Police said Biswamani had lured three students of J B school, Supinagar, promissing them to provide job in Mizoram on November 2.

But they were sent to a house in Tulashikhir under Champahawar police station area on Indo-Bangladesh border and proposed them to join the outfit, subsequently handed over them to an ATTF leader.

According to report, they were taken into a hideout in deep jungle and forced them to join insurgency or pay Rs one lakh each as ransom.

However, they managed to escape on November 11 in the night. They reached home after two days and lodged complaint against Biswamani.

Biswamani was arrested on November 16 and produced before the court where he admitted his crime.
