ATTF activist in remand for forcing students to join militancy

Agartala, Nov 18 (UNI) West Tripura Chief Judicial Magistrate sent ATTF militant Biswamani Debbarma of Mandai area here to ten-day remand yesterday, for forcing three tribal students to join the outfit.

Police said Biswamani had lured three students of J B school, Supinagar, promising them jobs in Mizoram on November 2.

Instead, they were taken to a house in Tulashikhir under Champahawar police station area on Indo-Bangladesh border and asked proposed to join the outfit. Subsequently, they were handed over to an ATTF leader.

According to a report, they were taken into a hideout in deep jungle and forced to join as insurgents or pay Rs one lakh each as ransom.

They, however, managed to escape on November 11 in the night and reached home after two days and lodged a complaint against Biswamani.

Biswamani was arrested on Sunday and produced before the court where he admitted his crime.
