AP CM to lay foundation of PCSS irrigation project on Nov 19
Hyderabad, Nov 18 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy will lay the foundation for the prestigious Pranahitha-Chevella Sujala Sravanthi(PCSS) lift irrigation project at Chevella in Ranga Reddy district tomorrow, coinciding with the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Addressing a press conference here today, he said the state government had decided to take up the project at a cost of Rs 38,500 crore to provide irrigation facility to 16.40 lakh acres of land in seven districts in Telangana region. It would be completd in four years.
Giving the details of the project, he said 160 TMC water would be diverted from Pranahita river to Chevella with a total length of the 700 kms.
He said the project would provide irrigation facilities to drought prone areas in seven districts--Adilabad(1.56 lakh acres), Karimnagar(1.71 lakh acres), Nizamabad (3.04 lakh acres), Medak (5.19 lakh acres), Nalgonda (2.29 lakh acres), Ranga Reddy (2.46 lakh acres) and Warangal (11,863 acres), besides providing drinking water to the villages enroute and also to the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderbad.
