Ailing Haryana woman boxer dies, Hooda expresses shock
Chandigarh, Nov 18 (UNI) Megha Bhardwaj, a budding Haryana boxer today lost her prolonged battle with round cell and lung cancer.
Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Ms Kiran Choudhry expressed deep shock over the death of Megha for whose treatment Mr Hooda had announced financial help of Rs one lakh earlier this morning.
Megha, a student of class XI-Non-Medical of Maharaja Agrasain Girls Senior Secondary School, Sirsa, had been suffering from round cell and lung cancer for the last one and half year and her family had to struggle hard to meet expenses for her treatment.
In their condolence messages Mr Hooda and Mrs Choudhry said that the state government had tried to help Megha, who had won laurels for the state in various boxing championships at district, state and national level competitions.
The state had lost a promising sportsperson who had shown exceptional qualities in the field of academic, cultural and sports, Mr Hooda said.
