Aizawl, Nov 17 (UNI) Zoram Nationalist Party supremo and United Democratic Alliance's deputy chief ministerial candidate Lalduhoma today dismissed the Congress' much-hyped New Land Use Policy (NLUP) that offers Rs 1 lakh for each 'deserving' family.
The Pradesh Congress is selling the NLUP, a revised version, which they claimed have got the UPA government's approval, he said.
Lalduhoma rubbished that NLUP could not be funded by the Central Pool Fund (special economic package) as claimed by the Congress.
The Central Pool Fund was initiated during the Deva Gowda ministry for the entire Northeast.
''After all, central schemes are meant for all the states and there can't be such a special project for a particular state,'' he clarified.
''If the Congress' claim that the Centre would fund the NLUP is true, what is the need for Congress ministry here?'' he asked.
The Lal Thanhawla-led Congress ministry during 1994-1998 had initiated the NLUP but it finally failed to take off.
