Brisbane, Nov 17 : Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has said that he won't feel hurt if Andrew Symonds was given a berth in the Test team at his cost for the forthcoming home series against New Zealand.
He said that Symonds deserved a place in the side for his age and experience.
"If Andrew Symonds gets a spot, he bloody deserves it......he's been a great player for a number of years. I would not feel hard done by, no way. I'm realistic of where I'm at. I'm still only 27, so I know I've got a lot of really good cricket in front of me," The News quoted Watson as saying in an interview with Fox Sports.
He said he was ready to make way for recalled Symonds if only one of the two all-rounders could be accommodated in the Test series against New Zealand.
"Roy definitely deserves an opportunity whenever he's ready to go. He's performed so well in some tough times for Australia and you can't take that away from him," he added.
Watson was one of Australia's top performers with both bat and ball in the recent series in India, but a question mark exists over his place in the team after the selectors recalled Symonds.
Symonds' recall has left the selectors faced with a problem of plenty, and a situation where they may have to leave out one of the two equally deserving players from the final eleven, said the report.
