Tension prevail after CPI(M) attempt to let loose pigs
Tiruchirapalli, Nov 17 (UNI) Tension prevailed for a while near City Corporation office here today when Communist Part of India(Marxist) CPI(M) volunteers attempted to let-loose a few pigs inside the Corporation Office, condemning the authorities failure to control the pig menace, which caused several diseases, besides unhygenic condition in the city.
Based on the information, State Transport Minister K N Nehru and other officials rushed to the spot and assured the agitators that suitable action would be taken against pig menace in the city.
Following Mr Nehru's assurance, the agitators withdrew their agitation.
The Corporation Mayor Sarubala R Thondaiman later told newspersons that steps were taken to solve the problem.
The Corporation would also take action against the officials concerned for dereliction of duty, she added.
