Shivani murder case: HC asks for RK Sharma's medical records
New Delhi, Nov 17 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today issued notice to the Tihar Jail Superintendent and the state on the interim bail application filed by senior IPS officer R K Sharma, who is facing life sentence for the murder of journalist Shivani Bhatnagar.
Pushkar Sood, counsel for the petitioner, has filed an application in the Delhi High Court seeking interim bail, as he has to undergo cataract operation and needs to get some treatment regarding the recurrence of pain in the spinal cord.
Justice Anil Kumar and V K Shali issued notice to the Tihar jail Superintendent and asked for the medical records of Sharma by December 19.
Mr Sood said Sharma had undergone an operation of the spinal cord in 2005, for which he had taken an interim bail and adhered to the conditions of the bail. Now the pain in the back has recurred and he need to get some treatment as well as acupressure and may be granted 2 months interim bail.
Sharma was held guilty for the murder of Shivani and sentenced to life imprisonment on March 2008. Other three were also found guilty by the sessions court and are facing sentence.
He has filed an appeal against the lower court judgement and has prayed for interim suspension on medical grounds.
