Saurashtra 81 for 1 against Punjab's 482

Rajkot, Nov 17 (UNI) Saurashtra was 81 for one in their first essay in reply to Punjab's 482 all out on the second day of the four-day Super league Ranji Trophy match at the Madhavrao Scindia stadium here today.

Bhusan Chauhan (41) and Sitanshu Kotak (22) were at the crease when the stumps were drawn.

Punjab resumed their first innings at the overnight score of 291 for five and Taruvar Kohali and Ankur Kakkar struck a blistering 119-run stand for the sixth wicket, as the team raised its total to 482 all out, shortly before the tea-break.

Taruvar Kohali and Ankur Kakkar, used their feet well against the spinners to read both Kamlesh Makwana and Ravindra Jadeja well and kept the scoreboard ticking at their will.

Left arm spinner Kamlesh Makwana struck to break the sixth wicket partnership as Taruwar Kohali edged a ball and was caught by wicket keeper Sagar Jogiyani for his valuable 79 runs, in which he clouted 12 fours, from 158 balls.

Ankur Kakkar also got out to Ravindra Jadeja after making 67 runs with the aid of two sixes and six boundaries. Gagandeep Singh made a quickfire 33 in 36 balls, smashing two sixes and three boundaries, before being trapped leg before off seamer Sandeep Jobanputra.

Left arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was most successful bowler from Saurashtra, as he first grabbed three wickets yesterday and later rounded off five wickets for 106 runs.

Makwana also took three wicket for 115 runs.

Kanaya Vaghela and Bhusan Chauhan added 44 runs for the first wicket before the former was trapped leg before off seamer Gagandeep singh at 16. B Chauchan and S Kotak carried the innings without being separated and put on 37 runs for the second wicket when stumps were drawn.
