Punjab CLP demands emergence assembly session
Chandigarh, Nov 17 (UNI) The Punjab Congress Legislature Party (CLP) today demanded that an emergence session of the state assembly should be called immediately to discuss the fiscal position of the state and other important issues including the rights of the elected representatives.
"Punjab today is in a complete financial mess and the government has resorted to overdraft as its coffers are empty", a resolution passed at the CLP meeting here stated.
The meeting which was chaired by CLP leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal pointed out that employees are not being paid their salaries, GPF/TA/DA and other benefits. The CLP demanded that the report of 5th Pay Commission be submitted to the government and implemented during the current financial year.
"Even elected members of the House are unable to get their dues including medical reimbursements", the resolution added while claiming that Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal too has corroborated the allegations of the Congress party of financial mismanagement.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Finance Minister must issue a white paper on the fiscal position of the state in the emeregence session of the assembly, Mrs Bhattal said while addressing a media conference after the meeting.
The people of the state want to known where the central funds or funds from the World Bank and Nabard have gone, she added while advising Mr Badal to stop buidling castles in the air.
Ever since the formation of the present SAD-BJP government, Punjab has witnessed complete misrule, breakdown of constitutional machinery, collapse of law and order and utter failure onthe financial situation, the resolution further said. The Chief Minister has abdicated his authority to rule and has willfully surrendered before the dictats of his son and SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal.The junior Badal has been summoning senior officers and passing verbal orders, making policy statements, laying foundation stones and inaugurating public works and has been using the state helicopter, the resolution said.
