New Delhi, Nov 17: Three time Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Rajinder Nagar constitutency, Puran Chand Yogi allegedly committed suicide on Sunday, Nov 16 according to the police officials. He was found hanging at his Inder Puri residence Southwest Delhi. However the family members of Yogi, 73, and senior BJP leaders denied that he had committed suicide.
Yogi was given the BJP ticket for the fourth time to contest from Rajinder Nagar and was actively involved in coampaigning for the Nov 29 polls. Delhi police said that the initial probe suggest it as a case of suicide and they are waiting for the Post-mortem report. Sources say that Yogi was depressed and dobtful about his poll prospects this time.
But his family members said that he was a heart patient and died of cardiac arrest. BJP"s CM candidate V K Malhotra said: “He was confident of winning. There was no reason for him to commit suicide."
