GUJCOC essential to combat terrorism: Shah
Rajkot, Nov 17 (UNI) Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah emphasised that the Gujarat Control of Organised Crime (GUJCOC) bill is essential to combat terrorism and the Centre should pass the bill immediately.
Speaking at a function here yesterday, after inaugurating the city's new Police Commissionerate here, Mr Shah said Gujarat is a border state and therefore, needs stringent law in its fight against terrorism.
The new building of city Police Commissionerate was constructed at the cost of Rs 2.75 crore. It is equipped with all modern facilities.
Mr Shah also inaugurated the women's jail building and community hall at the police headquarters.
As part of the new district jail complex, the women's jail was constructed at the cost of about Rs three crore, while community hall constructed at he cost of Rs 80 lakh.
Director General of Police P C Pandey, Inspector General of Police (Rajkot Range) V V Rabari and Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Rupani among others were present on the occasion.
