Five missing girls from Chennai traced in Madurai
Madurai, Nov 17 (UNI) The city police today traced five school girls, who ran away from their homes in Chennai recently fearing wrath of their parents following poor performance in their exam, at the railway junction here and took them into safe custody.
According to police sources, the girls studying in ninth standard in a private school at Tambaram in Chennai left their home under the pretext of going to the school on November 14. They went to Tirupathi by a bus from Koyambedu Moffusil Bus Terminal. There they worshiped Lord Venkateswara atop Tirupathi hills and from there they went to Salem and reached Madurai today.
Parents of the missing girls had lodged a complaint with Tambaram Police Station, who had launched a massive search operation, sources said.
When the girls had spent all the money and were stranded on Madurai railway junction, one of them called her parent from a public telephone booth and narrated their plight. Their parents alerted Chennai police, who in turn contacted Madurai city police to trace out the girls.
Their parents had been informed, sources added.
