New Delhi, Nov 17 (UNI) The Congress today came down heavily on the BJP for giving an ''advance clean chit'' to those accused in the September 29 Malegaon bomb blast, and charged the main Opposition party with ''blatant politicisation of investigation and blatant communalisation of terror''.
Talking to mediapersons, AICC Spokesman Abishek Manu Singhvi asked ''how can the investigating agencies work if a mainstream political party gives an advance clean chit to the accused involved in a case of terror ?'' Regretting that BJP President Rajnath Singh repeatedly gave an advance clean chit to those accused of terror, he said ''for the Congress, terror has been colour-blind, religion-blind and politics-blind.'' In this context, he cited the difficulty of the investigating agencies to function in states where the BJP was in power.
''The BJP is accusing us of being soft on terror. How can such a party stand up and support those accused of terrorism. They are accused because of the enormous evidence available with the investigating agencies,'' Dr Singhvi said.
Saying that the BJP supported the accused in the Malegaon blasts case because of religion, he asked the BJP if it raised the same protests when investigating agencies in other states investigate similar cases ? In this context, he reminded the BJP that its new found ally AIADMK had put MDMK leader V Gopalaswamy (Vaiko) behind the bars under the POTA.
''I don't know whether Mr Rajnath Singh wants similar use and misuse of POTA in view of the support of those accused of terror,'' Dr Singhvi said.
