Clash between RSS and Sikh devotees averted in Gurdwara
Fatehgarh Sahib, Nov 17 (UNI) With the timely intervention of some devotees a clash between RSS activists and a group of Sikh devotees was averted at the historical Gurdwara, Sri Fatehgarh Sahib run by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar has constituted a committee an inquiry into the incident which occured late last night. The committee will comprise of SGPC secretary Dilmegh Singh, SGPC executive member Karnail Singh Panjoli, Sirhind MLA and SGPC member Didar Singh Bhatti.
According to reports, a group of about 50 RSS activists visited Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib to pay obeisance. They were presented with 'siropas' (robes of honour) by the shrine management committee.
The RSS activists who were in their tradition uniform then held a meeting in the Gurdwara premises and thereafter started delivering speeches in Hindi. A couple of devotees, who had come to pay obeisance noticed this and lodged their protest with the shrine managers and tried to stop the RSS activists from delivering their speeches.
This led to heated exchanges between the two opposing groups.
However a possible clash was averted with the intervention of another group of devotees who pacified both the sides.
Most of RSS activists under the leadership of Vijay Kumar were from were from New Delhi and are on a visit to the religious places in Punjab.
