Chinese generator package for Mettur thermal power project
Chennai, Nov 17 (UNI) A delegation from the Chinese Government-owned DongFang Electric Corporation Limited (DEC) today assured Tamil Nadu government that it would speed up the supply of Boiler and Turbine Generator (BTG) package for the coal-based 600 MW Mettur Thermal Power Project - Stage III.
The Rs 3,100 crore project was awarded to BGR Energy Systems in June this year and DEC would supply the BTG package for the plant, to be commissioned on September 11.
During the meeting, State Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy urged DEC Chairman Si Zefu to supply the BTG at the earliest for commissioning of the project by January 2011, eight months ahead of schedule.
Mr Zefu assured the Minister that he would take all efforts for early supply of BTG package.
During the meeting, Mr Veerasamy assured the BGR Energy and the Chinese delegation of all support from the TNEB and the government for early commissioning of the project, an official release said.
