New Delhi, Nov 17 (UNI) Bowlers brought Delhi back into the match as they bundled out Mumbai to 330 and the hosts reduced the lead to 164 at the end of the second day of the Ranji Trophy Super League group A match here today.
Mithun Manhas (72) and Rajat Bhatia (45) had added an unbeaten 97-run fifth wicket partnership to take the team score to 176 for four and the two were at the crease when the stumps were drawn.
The Delhi bowlers allowed the visitors to add only 66 runs for eight wickets to their overnight total of 279 and the momentum of the match immediately shifted to the home team.
However, the star studded Delhi batting line-up was in a spot of bother at 79 for four and it was a great effort from Manhas and Bhatia to defy the Mumbai bowling to create any more inroads.
Opener Shikhar Dhawan (5) was the first casualty for the hosts when he was clean bowled by Test discard Ajit Agarkar. Akash Chopra (16) soon followed his fellow opener with the addition of just 30 runs to the team score.
Agarkar struck once again to send Aditya Jain (8) back to pavilion but from there on it was Manhas and Bhatia all the way.
The two were very selective with their shots but did not leave any opportunity to go begging and struck as many as 20 boundaries between themselves.
Manhas' 114-ball innings had 13 boundaries, while Bhatia gave him able support and played with authority for his unbeaten 69-ball 45.
Earlier in the morning session, Delhi bowlers came out all guns blazing and left-arm pacer Pradeep Sangwan sent overnight batsmn Amol Muzumdar (83) back to the pavilion thus breaking a 223-run third wicket stand.
Ajinkya Rahane also followed his overnight partner but not before score a well-made 160 off 264 balls with the help of 23 fours.
Sumit Narwal and Parvinder Awana then ran through the Mumbai batting claiming four and three wickets respectively.
Chetanya Nanda also chipped in with a couple of wickets, while Sangwan had to remain content with just one wicket.
