AICC member Upendra resigns
Hyderabad, Nov 17 (UNI) All India Congress Committee (AICC) member and former Union Minister P Upendra today resigned from the Congress and AICC membership to join the Praja Rajyam Party.
In a statement here, he said, ''I have resigned today from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress, as well as membership of the AICC. I have sent a letter to this effect to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.'' He said he would join the Praja Rajyam Party, floated by actor Chiranjeevi.
''Chiranjeevi has asked me to help him in his task by being one of his advisors. I have accepted his offer. My task will be purely advisory in nature. I have no intention of contesting elections or playing a pro-active role,'' Mr Upendra said.
He appealed his colleagues, followers and admirers to join the Praja Rajyam Party to strengthen the hands of Chiranjeevi.
