Puducherry, Nov 17: AIADMK Puducherry unit secretary and MLA, A Anbazhagan on Monday, Nov 17 said the administration should convene the assembly session immediately to get concurrence for supplimentary grants.
Addressing a press conference here, he said it has become a practice every year to get a supplimentary demand for grants passed for additional funds for government expenditure. Last year, legislators concurrence for Rs 172 crore was obtained, he said, adding doing so without convening the assembly was wrong.
He alleged that the administration had made a mockery of the assembly by spending as per its wish and seeking the concurrence of the legislators.
Pointing out the convening of Parliament last month and the Tamil Nadu assembly last week for the same purpose, Mr Anbazhagan said the Puducherry administration should also get the concurrence of legislators by convening the assembly. Lt.Governor Govind Singh Gurjar should take the initiatives for this. The AIADMK would write a letter to the Lt Governor, he added.
Mr Anbazhagan also pointed out that the administration required additional funds for implementation of Sixth Pay Commission recommendations. It is learnt that funds allotted under the Special Component Plan Scheme (SCP) for Dalits were diverted to other departments. Such divertion of funds without the permission of the assembly was wrong, he added.
