Kins of many officers in fray in Raj Assembly polls

Jaipur, Nov 16 (UNI) Relatives of prominent politicians are not the only privileged group in electoral politics, kins of many senior officers have also succeeded in making way for a political career.

Among them, Ms Prabhawati, the wife of senior IAS officer of MP cadre-Prabhu Dayal Meena-has been allotted Congress ticket for contesting Bassi(ST) seat in the December 4 assembly polls.

Another IAS officer of UP cadre, BM Meena's son-Satpal-has also been favoured with a Congress ticket for the Lalsot(ST) seat in Dausa district.

Satpal will take on BJP nominee retired Divisional Railway Manager Rajkumar Meena.

Mr Meena Rajkumar got the ticket in lieu of his son, former Minister and sitting MLA Virendra Meena who this time has been dropped by the party.

A kin of another IAS officer of UP cadre also figures in the Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) list. IAS Sitaram Meena's son Lokesh has been fielded by the Dalit party on Bassi(ST) seat.

A number of retired and serving officers, including retired IAS KL Meena, Shivji Ram Parihar, retired senior police officers JP Mishra and Liyaqat Ali, retired RPS Ramnarain Meena, were seeking tickets from various parties including the BJP and Congress but most of them could not succeed in their bid.

However, former IAS DN Pandey has succeeded in securing Bharatiya Janshkati Party(BJS) ticket for Bharatpur seat.
