Visakhapatnam, Nov 16 (UNI) The cyclonic storm ''Khai Muk'' has weakened into a deep depression and crossed south Andhra coast near Kavali, it has further weakened into a depression and lay centered today evening close to Nandyal in Kurnool district in AP.
According to a special bulletion issued by the Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC) here tonight, the system was likely to move in a west north westerly direction and weaken gradually into a low pressure area during the next 12 hours.
Under its influence, rain or thundershowers were likely to occur at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours.
The strong surface winds from easterly direction with speed reaching 50 to 55 KMPH likely along and off south coastal Andhra Pradesh and winds from northeasterly direction with speed reacing 45 to 50 KMPH along and off north coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 12 hours.
The sea would be rough along and off coastal Andhra Pradesh fishermen advised not to venture into the sea.
The chief mounts of rainfal in cm recorded over coastal Andhra Pradesh during the last 24 hours as follows; Machilipatnam 13, Kaikalur 11, Gudivada 10, Rapur nine, Bhimavaram, Udayagiri and Atmakur eight each, Bhimadole, Tanuku, Gudur, Eluru, Repalle, Tadepalli Gudem seven each, Venkatagiri, Vijayawada and Tiruvuru six each, Amalapuram, Tada five each, the bulletin added.
