Srinagar, Nov 16 (UNI) Expressing profound shock over the tragic bridge collapse in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today ordered a Magisterial enquiry into the incident.

The inquiry will be conducted by the District Magistrate, Baramulla, within a period of one week.

The authorities have announced Rs one lakh ex-gratia relief to the next of kin of those killed and Rs 50,000 to the injured.

An official spokesman said on receiving information about the incident during his tour to the various parts of Srinagar, the Governor on phone directed the District Development Commissioner (DDC), Baramulla, to provide relief measures.

Rescue operations had been undertaken by the authorities immediately after the accident occurred.

The Governor asked the DDC to mobilise all resources for providing specialised treatment to the injured.

He also discussed this incident with Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Masud Samoon, and asked him to overview the rescue and relief operations.

Mr Vohra was informed that the National Hydro Construction Corporation has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of the kin of those killed in the accident and Rs 50,000 in respect of each of the injured, apart from meeting the expenditure on their treatment.
