'Enough security is provided for Jayalalithaa'

Coimbatore, Nov 16: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Sunday, Nov 16 said his government has provided opposition AIADMK General Secretary and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa with 84 police officials as against the Union Home ministry guidelines of 54 police personnel, as per Z plus category security for VIPs.

Talking to newspersons here he listed out the police personnel involved in the security entourage for Ms Jayalalithaa. He said including the national security service of 12 officials, the state government has provided 84 officials as per the wish of the AIADMK leader, besides two drivers for her bullet proof car. He also noted that during the 2001-06, when Ms Jayalalithaa was the Chief Minister, eventhough there was a threat, she was given security with only 43 police officials.

Mr Karunanidhi said police had made proper security arrangements during the Muthuramalinga Thevar birth anniversary function at Pasumpon. The function went off peacefully.
