Instant fame achiever 'Madhushala' gets Fatwa
Lucknow, Nov 16 (UNI) Muslim clerics seems to be divided over a 'Fatwa' issued against 'Madhushala,' the timeless creation scribbled by Bollywood actor Big B's father and poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, by Kazi Shehar here.
A couple of days ago, Kazi Shehar had issued a Fatwa against the renowned poetry book, objecting to some of its 'quotations.' It, however, now seems to have become a matter of contention within the members of the community itself.
Expressing their views, some Muslim clerics said if such kind of Fatwas were issued against the poetry works, then all Urdu and Persian literature work would also have to face it.
Muslim Personnel Law Board is amongst the others, who is taking the matter with little seriousness. Senior Board member and Babri Masjid Action Committee convenor Jafaryab Jilani talking to UNI here today said '' I have not read Madhushala, but I believe that a poet pens down his thoughts in his book, which should not be objected till they hurt Islam.'' Without terming the Fatwa 'correct or wrong,' he said ''I don't think an intellectual writer like Mr Harivansh Rai Bachchan could ever hurt anyone's religious feelings or Islam.'' Even, the poems by Galib and Kabir would be doubted, if the act of issuing Fatwa begins, Mr Jilani observed, however, justifying the Fatwa issued against Salman Rushdie for writing against Islam few years back.
