Bhopal, Nov 16 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee today lambasted the Bharatiya Janata Party's advertisement, published in newspapers, that demanded a statement of the Congress's 50 years' work.
''The BJP has no right to ask the Congress for such a statement.
The electorate has the right and they will give a fitting reply at the hustings,'' Congress state spokesman Arvind Malviya told reporters here.
The BJP was misleading people by publishing such a statement, which was baseless and incorrect, he alleged while adding that in democratic set-up political parties had to furnish five years' statement -- not five decades -- to voters.
Accusing Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of submitting a false statement on enhancing irrigation facilities, Congress spokesman K K Mishra said that the party wrote to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for looking into the matter.
Mr Mishra also alleged that the BJP was issuing fake Elector Photo Identity Cards and that came to light after a student's suicide yesterday in a technology university here. He urged the ECI to initiate action.
Feroz Khan, who played Arjun in B R Chopra's 'Mahabharat' series and is campaigning in Congress favour, was also present.
