Jammu, Nov 16 (UNI) BJP state unit, today received a big blow as the party's vice-president and spokesman Hari Om joined the Congress.
Prof Soz, president, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) welcomed Prof Hari Om into the Congress after releasing party's manifesto here this afternoon.
''I am sure that with the coming of Prof Hari Om, Congress will be strengthened and motivated with his ideologies,'' Prof Soz said.
Prof Hari Om joined the party amid the presence of former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister for Water Resources Saif-ud-din Soz and All India Congress Committee General Secretary, in-charge J&K and Union Minister Prithvi Raj Chavan.
He however, told mediapersons that the Congress party had always been very kind to him despite him being a key man in the BJP.
''There are various reasons for me to join the Congress and I feel that only Congress alone can win by majority and form the next government in J&K,'' Prof Hari Om said.
He warned that the situation in the state is at a very critical juncture and only nationalist party can rescue Jammu and Kashmir from the ongoing turmoil.
The former BJP senior leader assured all support to the Congress and said he would work for the betterment of the party with dedication.
Prof Hari Om, who served BJP for over two decades, last week submitted his resignation to the BJP high commands.
