Badal inaugurates memorial of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha

Sarabha, Ludhiana, Nov 16 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today paid rich tributes to Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha on the eve of his Martyrdom Day and dedicated the freedom fighters memorial built at his native village here to the people of the nation.

The memorial was built at a cost of Rs 1.70 crore. at his village Sarabha to the nation.

Addressing a largely attended function in Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Sports Complex, the Chief Minister said that this brave freedom fighter was the youngest martyr, who sacrificed his life at the age of just 19 years. He said that this brave son of the country, had been a great source of inspiration for the patriots struggling during freedom movement to liberate the county from British rulers.

Mr Badal said that Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha joined the Gaddar party in the US and returned to India to lead the revolution. The Chief Minister said that he was a source of inspiration for the other young patriots of the country including Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh. Mr Badal announced that as a tribute, the villages of the great martyrs of freedom movement would be developed as model villages where all the basic facilities of sewerage, sanitation, drinking water, roads, schools would be made avaliable. The families of freedom fighters would be accorded full respect and financial assistance if needed by the government, he added.
