All-party meeting to urge Centre to ensure ceasefire in Lanka
Chennai, Nov 16 (UNI) The all-party meeting, to be convened by the Communist Party of India (CPI) tomorrow, would adopt a resolution for a massive agitation to make the ''Centre to act and ensure ceasefire in Sri Lanka''.
Addressing the fast, observed by actor Vijay, along with his fans here, CPI State Unit Secretary D Pandian said after the all-party meeting, ''We will make the Centre to open its mouth and talk in support of the Tamils.'' Hinting about a massive agitation, he said the agitation would ensure that the bombing on Tamils in Lanka should stop or the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre quit for failing to protect the Tamils.
''People should ponder whether we need the government at the Centre, which had failed to ensure ceasefire in Lanka and protect the Tamils,'' Mr Pandian said, and stressed the need for intensifying the agitations in support of the Tamils.
Meanwhile, sources in CPI said all political parties in the state, including the ruling DMK and the main Opposition AIADMK have been invited to attend the all-party meeting.
No political party, has so far said no to the meeting, the sources added.
