SSTP achieves milestone in SFW
Tiruchirapalli, Nov 15 (UNI) The Seamless Steel Tube Plant (SSTP) of the Public Sector Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), has achieved a milestone by despatching 22 metre-long Spiral Finned Tubes (SFW), longest tubes manufactured for the first time, according to a BHEL press release.
Speaking on the occasion, V Sundar, Director of Boilers flagged of the first consignment, containing 4140 MT of carbon steel SFW tubes and 1930 MT of alloy steel SFW tubes, to High Pressure Boiler Plant (HPBP). The 22 metre-long SFW tubes will be used for manufacturing modules for Fluidised Bed Combustion (FBC) and Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) for the Nagathone, Pipavav and Pragati projects.
For the production of this new variant of the product, SSTP had installed a state-of-the-art Solid-state welder, in place of vacuum tube oscillator, a PLC and developed in-house the lengthening of the bed along with necessary accessoriesd.
T S G Narayanan, Deputy Director of Boilers, BHEL circle handed over the test certificate to N Krishnamurthy, General Manager, SSTP.
S R Mani, General Manager Operations, Boiler Plant, received the despatch documents from N Krishnamurthy. V Ananthakrishnan, Executive Director, BHEL presided over the function, the release added.
