Chandigarh, NOV 15 (UNI) Orissa will cross swords with Goa and Manipur will face the challenge of Tamil Nadu in the semifinals of the 7th Girls Junior National Football Championship 2008-09 being hosted by Haryana Football Association at the Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex here today.
Cluster V winners Manipur recorded their third successive victory as they blanked Cluster II winners Goa in the Group B quarter-final league by 4-0.
Manipur finished in group B with full nine points and Goa were runners-up with two victories and one defeat.
Dominating througout the match, the sturdly Manipur girls virtually camped inside the Goa territory and pumped in four goals without reply. N Montesori Chanu excelled in dribbling and shooting as she fired goals in the 10th and 62nd minutes to fashion her team's convincing victory. L Itarani Devi (55th) andn S Pramodini Devi (79th) contributed one goal each to swell the winners' tally.
Cluster III winners and osts Haryana had a consolation victory as they handed out a 10-0 drubbing to Cluster VII winners Tripura in the last quarter-final league. The highlight of the one-sided match was a hat-trick by Manpreet Kaur who struck in the 43rd, 45th and 47th minutes).
The winners led 5-0 at half time. Haryana scorers were Taruna (1st 33rd ,76th), Priyanka (10th, 79th),Monica (14th) Preeti (21st), Manpreet Kaur (43rd, 45th and 47th).
Both semi-finals will be played on November 17.
