Jhargram, Nov 15 (UNI) Suspected Maoists today shot dead a ration dealer in Phulaveda village under Belpahari Police Station in Jhargram sub-division.
Sub-Divisional Officer Tanmay Chakraborty said about 40 Maoists, with black clothes covering their faces, came to Ashoke Halder's house and took him away forcibly to a jungle at about 1500 hours.
They then shot him dead by pumping five bullets in his chest from point blank range.
The ultras at about 1900 hours dumped Ashoke's body near his house.
Mr Chakraborty said police are yet to reach the village as all the roads leading to Phulaveda have been blocked by the ongoing agitation of the tribals.
