Kannur, Nov 15 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan will inaugurate a cricket stadium set-up by the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) at Thalassery, tomorrow.
This will be the third exclusive cricket stadium of the KCA, after the stadia in Palakkad and Perithalmanna in Malappuram district.
Ministers Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and M Vijayakaumar would also attend the function. The modernisation of municipal stadium, which was completed at an estimated cost of Rs two crore is a oval-shaped one.
It would have five main pitches and three practice pitches, including one for night practice, said KCA Joint Secretary P V Sirajudhin.
The stadium was developed on a 7.62 acre land, offered by Thalassery municipality. The KCA shouldered Rs 1.75 crore of the project cost and the balance Rs 25 lakh had been sanctioned by State Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishanan from his MLA local area development fund.
