Karunanidhi hails PM, Sonia, Madhavan Nair on moon mission
Chennai, Nov 15 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today congratulated Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and ISRO Chairman G Madhavan Nair for successfully planting Indian flag on the moon by Chandrayaan-1.
Mr Karunanidhi sent separate telegrams to Dr Singh, Ms Sonia and Mr Nair, congratulating for the successful Lunar exploratory mission.
In a telegram to Dr Singh, he said ''under your able and dynamic leadership, the Indian scientists have made us proud as Chandrayaan-1 completed the task of landing the Moon Impact Probe (IMP) and the Indian National Flag on the moon''.
''I convey my congratulations to you and your scientists'', he added.
In a telegram to Ms Sonia, Mr Karunanidhi said ''I am very happy that on November 14, the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the ISRO scientists succesfully marked India's presence on the moon. My hearty congratulatons to you and your scientists for the landmark achievement''.
Wishing Dr Nair for the success, the Chief Minister said ''under your inspiring and creative leadership, ISRO has realised the dream of every Indian. The country is proud of you and your scientists. My hearty wishes to you and your team'', he added.
Mr Karunanidhi also penned a poem for the successful mission of Chandrayaan-1 and hailed the ISRO scientists for planting the Indian tricolour on the moon, and joining US, Russia, and European Union in this endeavour.
''It's a wonderful chapter in Indian Space history'', he added.
