Gehlot, Gurjar enter the fray in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Nov 15 (UNI) Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Panchayati Raj Minister Kalu Lal Gurjar, Rajasthan State Seeds Corporation Chairman Ratan Lal Jat, Bhilwara Zila Pramukh Kanhiya Lal Dhakad and former Minister Ashq Ali Tak were among those who filed their nominations for the December 4 Assembly election in Rajasthan from different constituencies on the penulimate day today.

Mr Gehlot filed his papers from Sardarpura assembly segment in Jodhpur for his third successive term on the seat, Mr Gurjar submitted his candidature from Mandal in Bhilwara district.

Dr Jat and Mr Dhakar who failed to secure BJP tickets have also entered the fray as rebels from Sahada and Mandalgarh constituencies in Bhilwara district respectively.

Former Minister Tak also filed his nomination on Kishanpol constituency in Jaipur as Congress nominee.

Filing of nomination papers will remain suspended on account of Sunday . Last date of filing papers is November 17, scrutiny will be done on November 18 and withdrawals can be made by November 20.

The polling in all the 200 Assembly constituencies will be held on December 4 and counting will be done on December 8, the spokesman said.

Around 3.62 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise even as the process of continuous revision of electoral rolls was on. Around 42,200 polling booths were being set up for the polling.
