Educational institutions should come forward with new vision: Patil

Chandigarh, Nov 15 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil today said that if educational institutions come forward with innovative concepts and projects there would be no paucity of funds for them.

Mr Patil while addressing a function after laying the foundation stone of Punjab University Medical Research Institute and Hospital here today, said that the Central Government would provide full monetory support to educational institutions if their projects would be innovative.

"Educational institutions should not confine themselves to follow beaten track but it should set up their own model. Universities should be broader in their perspective instead of confining themselves to a particular area and idea," he said.

Lauding the Punjab University for establishing this 100 bedded hospital attached with Dr HS Judge Institute of Dental Sciences, he said, "This hospital project of the Punjab University is commendable as though there are medical colleges functioning under the universities but there are no hospitals under them. Most of the hospitals under medical colleges are operated by government or private sectors." "This hospital would not only cater the needs of university students and researchers but would also be benificial for local people," he said.

Lauding Minister of State for Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Pawan Kumal Bansal for providing financial assistance to this project from MPLAD fund, Mr Patil said that other MPs should also come forward for providing assistance to such projects.
