Anti-corruption Bureau register two cases in bitumen scam
Shimla, Nov 15 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau has registered two cases at Hamirpur and Una in connection with multi-crore bitumen scam in the state, State Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau SP Hardesh Bisht said today.
He said the cases had been registered against two middle agencies involved in the purchase of bitumen for the Public works Department of the Government. Four transporters were also involved in the scam.
The scam was unearthed when two truckloads of bitumen could not reach their destination at Hamirpur and 475 drums of bitumen bound for Una were found missing on way.
The SP said that investigation in the case was continuing and those involved in the scam would be brought to book soon.
Bitumen are being purchased from Indian Oil Corporation and HPCL (Panipat) for the Public Works Department since April 1, 2007 and the supply got delayed for more than six months due to the scam.
