Kolkata, Nov 14 (UNI) Leaders Sporting Clube de Goa might find the going tough when they face a relatively new look East Bengal with Alvito de Cunha donning colours for the first time in the 2nd ONGC Indian League here tomorrow.
Coach Stanley Rozario, already facing shortage of a foreign striker with Brazilian Marquise Edmilson down with fever, planned to field veteran Goanese striker Alvito against Sporting, having nine points lead over Kolkata outfit at the end of seventh round.
Alvito, who was out of soccer for many weeks due to injuries, might prove his worth with East Bengal having very poor scoring rate in the IL barring their first 3-1 win against United SC.
Former champions EB after seven games stood at fifth place with two wins, three draws, and two losses collecting nine points.
EB will have their third foreigner in Ismail Edo of Ghana from next week after the AIFF gave go ahead in place of Edmilson.
Roazario said his side was well prepared to take on Sporting and would give them a big boost to carry on next challenge.
Sporting coach Vishwas Gaonkar told his boys to maintain their unbeaten streak against the Kolkata side.
Sporting have defeated three other sides of the city - Mohammedan Sporting, Mohun Bagan and United FC - and if they could repeat such feat against EB, they will have cent per cent points.
With 18 points, four points separate them from No 2 Air India, Sporting have tremendous team combination though having no high profile player.
But Ghanaian Junior Elijah made his mark well, scoring five goals out of the side's total nine.
