Una, Nov.14 (UNI) A Rs 4.32 crore new sports scheme, 'Panchayat Yuva Krida and Sports Campaign' has been sanctioned to promote and strengthen sports activities at panchayat level, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said here today while inaugurating the State level Volleyball Championship.
He said that Dr M S Gill, Union Sports Minister sanctioned this ambitious sports project for the State on his personal request to him. He said that 24 panchayats and one development block of Una district would be included under this scheme adding that each panchayat would be provided Rs one lakh and the block Rs 5 lakh for construction of sports stadium during first year of the scheme.
Mr Dhumal said that 50 coaches would be appointed on contract basis to train the budding players out of which five volley coaches would be appointed in different places in the State besides continuing the services of already appointed 24 coaches.
He said that BJP Government is ensuring balanced and uniform development of the Pradesh irrespective of the area and political consideration.
He said that the State Government is providing three percent reservation to outstanding sports persons to boost their morale adding that 137 sports persons have been provided employment under scheme. He said that Government is considering to provide special relaxation to sports persons in police recruitments.
He said that the government has taken a decision that employees rendering honest and sincere services to the State would be rewarded with promotion and suitable awards.
Chief Minister also released a souvenir on the occasion and announced a grant of Rs. 50,000 to the State Volleyball Association for promotion this sport.
