Coimbatore has immense potential for retailing jobs, T R Suresh Kumar, Head-Operations of the company told reporters. People from the rural background who are unemployed have immense opportunities in retailing, he said.
The company had tied up with over 30 branded outlets in and around Coimbatore. Only 5 per cent to 6 per cent of the retail industry in India was organised. But, the scenario was fast changing and there would be a huge demand for trained professionals in the retail industry, Mr.Suresh Kumar added.
The jobs in the sector included retail managers, store managers, customer service representatives, sales associates, management trainees, merchandising assistants, and business executives. Merchandising, customer relationship management, and marketing and supply chain sectors were other areas of employment.
The company was planning to launch 25 retail schools in urban and semi-urban areas of Tamil Nadu in order to meet the growing demand for retail executives at the grassroots level. The centres would train candidates according to the requirements of the industry. The centre in Coimbatore would be located at Maruthi Towers, opposite Government Hospital.
